The Wem & District Bowling League was founded by Peter Broadhurst and a small committee in 1995 to encourage bowlers of all abilities to enjoy the sport. He believed that bowling was a very competitive sport but could also be enjoyed in a friendly atmosphere by those who took part for the pleasure of the game. Today, the league is regarded by its members as a friendly night out with enjoyable bowling.
The league has grown from one division of ten teams to four divisions, making it one of the most welcoming and active leagues in Shropshire.
